AD 937    Rashtrakoota empire copper plate indicating Pune’soriginal name as
                "Punya-Vishaya" or "Poonak Vishaya".
1897   The first assassination of a British official in India’s freedom struggle by the
            Chaphekar brothers takes place on Ganeshkhind Road on June 22 .
1916   Central Water & Power Research Station instituted .
1916      First town planning scheme by Pune Municipality .
1917    Development of Laxmi Road and Tilak Road .
1919    Development of underground sewage system .
1920   Erandwane merges in Pune Municipality .
1921    Construction on the Lloyd (shivaji Bridge) started .
1928   Pune Observatory established .
1928   The Mumbai-Pune Deccan Queen makes her first run .
1930    Vishrambaugwada premises used for Pune Municipality.
1941   Silver Jubilee Motor Transport bus service started .
1947   India gains Independence .
